 This is the 1^st verse of Ghalib’s 20^th Ghazal. 

Dost  Gham-khavri meiN meri,  Saii  farmaeveNge  kya?                                                                           In what way efforts of my sympathizing friends would work.                                                                                              Zakhm ke bharne talak, naKHun na baRah javeyNge kya?                                                                            If they clip my nails discouraging me scratching my wounds, won’t my nails re-grow before healing?                                               Gham-KHvari=Sympathizing     Saii=efforts      FarmaveyNge= this is of 19^th century Urdu meaning Farmayenge

 Meaning: Ghalib has multiple love-wounds. Ghalib’s sympathizers and friends came to help him. They found Ghalib was scratching his wounds with his overgrown nails and wouldn’t allow them heal. Therefore, his compassionate friends clipped his nails and disabled him scratching.

Ghalib tells his friends, Oh. My friends, your efforts, and technique will not bear fruits. For, my nails will grow back before my wounds heal and I would scratch my wounds again and make them fresh

 Finer aspects: Ghalib gives proof of his love affair with pain. Lovers wish that their wounds of love always remained fresh.

 This is the 2^nd  verse of Ghalib’s 20^th  ghazal.                                                                                                                        Be niyazi had se guzri, banda-pavar!  kab talak                                                                                 Your inattention has crossed limit. My master! After all how long will this sequence continue? i.e.                                       Ham kaheN-ge hal-e-dil, aur aap farmaveN-ge “kya?”                                                                   I will describe my heart’s woes, and you will repeatedly say, “What did you say, say it again”                                                         Be-niyazi=inattention     had se guzri=has crossed limit      “kya?” =what (did you say)?, please repeat

 Meaning: Ghalib is telling his heart’s troubling story to his beloved. However, she in not all ears; engrossed in makeup, she is not paying any attention at all. She frequently interrupts Ghalib and says “What did you say? Say it again”. Ghalib is tired of this inattention and says to his beloved, “My master! Your inattention is too much to bear; it has crossed limits. After all how long this sequence will continue when I will describe my heart’s troubles and you would again and again say “what did you say? Say it again”

 Finer aspects: Good play on words. This is very famous verse. The verse brings forth the picture of beloved neglect.

 This is the 3^rd verse of Ghalib’s 20^th ghazal.                                                                                                               Hazarat-e-naseh gar aaveyN, dida-o-dil farsh-e-rah                                                                     If his holiness preacher arrives, he will be most welcome; I will pave my eyes and heart on his path                                          Koi mujh ko yeh to samjha do, ke salaveN-ge kya?                                                                   However, can anyone explain to me what is he going to explain?                                                                                              Dida-o-dil farsh-e-rah=most welcome, I will pave my eyes and heart on his path 

 Meaning 3^rd verse: A preacher came to know that Ghalib is lost in love, and has forgotten God. He announces his arrival to Ghalib’s friends. They in turn break the news to Ghalib. Ghalib says if his Holiness is coming, he is most welcome. My eyes and heart will be his carpet. I will greet him with most respect. However, for God’s sake can someone tell me what he going to counsel? Meaning my fire of love is beyond preaching. Preacher’s words cannot stop me. In matter of love, I am beyond control. Therefore, all preaching, counseling, and advice are useless.

Ghalibologists’ Opinions: BeKHud opinion: In way of taunt, in first line, Ghalib says he will welcome his holiness preacher with great honor; he will pave his eyes and heart on his path; but in second line, he changes the tone, roars with contempt, and says, “What can he teach me. He doesn’t have power to weaver me from my love”

આ ગ઼ાલિબ ની  20 મી ગ઼ઝલ નો શેર નંબર 1 છે

દોસ્ત ગ઼મ ખ઼્વારી મેં  મેરી, સઈ ફ઼રમાવેંગે  ક્યા?                                                                     ઝખ઼્મકે ભરને તલક, નાખ઼ુન ન બઢ઼ જાવેંગે ક્યા?

ગ઼મખ઼્વારી=ઇલાજ, સારવાર,  દિલાસો     સઈ=કોશિશ    નાખ઼ુન=નખ

અર્થઃ ગ઼ાલિબ ઇશ્ક઼ ના જખ્મો થી ચૂર ચૂર છે. ગ઼ાલિબ ના મિત્રો ગ઼ાલિબ ના જખ્મો ની મલમપટી ને સારવાર કરવા આવ્યા છે. તેઓ જુએ છે કે ગ઼ાલિબ, જખ્મોને પોતાના વધેલા નખ વડે કોરી ઉંડા કરી નાખે છે, તેથી જખ્મો ભરાતા નથી, તાજા રહે છે. તે અટકાવવા માટે, દોસ્તો ગ઼ાલિબના નખ ને કતરી નાખે છે જેથી કે તે કોરી ન શકે. ગ઼ાલિબ પોતાના મિત્રોને સંબોધી કહે છે મારા મિત્રો! તમારી આ તજવીજ અને કોશિશ કામયાબ નહી થાય.કારણકે જ્યાં સુધી મારા ઘા ભરાસે એટલા વખત માં તો મારા નખ પાછા વધી જશે. હું મારા ઘા ફરી કોરી નાખીશ!

શેર ની ખુબીઓઃ ગા઼લિબ આ શેર મા પોતાના પીડા પ્રત્યે ના પ્રેમ નો પુરાવો દાખવે છે. ગ઼ાલિબ જેવા સાચા પ્રમી એમ ઇચ્છે છે કે તેમના પ્રેમ ના ઘા હંમેશાં તાજા રહે, રુઝાઇ નહી

આ ગ઼ાલિબ ની 20  મી ગ઼ઝલ નો શેર નંબર 2 છે

બેનિયાઝી હદ સે ગુઝરી, બંદાપરવર! કબ તલક                                              હમ કહેંગે હાલે દિલ, ઓર આપ ફરમાવેંગે  ક્યા?

બેનિયાઝી=દુર્લક્ષ, બેદરકારી         હદ સે ગુઝરી=હદ કે સિમા પાર કરી ગઇ        બંદાપરવર=મારા પાલણહાર, મારા સાહેબ          ક્યા?=શું કહયું? ફરીથી કહે

અર્થઃ ગ઼ાલિબ પોતાની પ્રેયસી ને પોતાના દિલ ની કહાણી સંભલાવી રહયો છે. પરંતુ ગ઼ાલિબ તરફ પ્રેયસી નુ ધ્યાન નથી તે પોતાના શણગારમાં વિલીન કે ખોવાયેલી છે. તેથી તે ઘડીઘડી પુછયા કરે છે કે શું કહયું, ફરીથી કહે આ દુર્લક્ષ થી અકળાઇ ને  ગ઼ાલિબ પોતાની પ્રેયસી ને કહે છે  મારા સાહેબ! હવે તમારી બેદરકારી ને દુર્લક્ષ હદ પાર કરી ગયા છે. ક્યાં સુધી આ સિલસિલો કાયમ રહેશે કે હુ આપને પોતાના મન ની ગાથા સંભળાવતો રહીશ અને આપ ફરમાવતા રહેશો “શું કહયું, ફરીથી કહે”

શેર ની  ખુબીઓઃ શેર ના શબ્દો ને રચના કમાલ છે. આપણે લાગે કે ગ઼ાલિબ પ્રેયસી સાથે વાત કરી રહયો છે તે આપણે નિહાળી રહયા છીએ.

આ ગ઼ાલિબ ની 20 મી ગ઼ઝલ નો શેર નંબર 3 છે.

હઝરતે નાસેહ ગર આવેં, દિદા-ઓ-દિલ ફર્શે રાહ                                             કોઇ મુઝ કો યેહ તો સમઝાદો, કે સમઝાવેંગે ક્યા?                                                                  હઝરત=મહાશય, શ્રીમાન       નાસેહ=ઉપદેશક      હઝરતે નાસેહ=શ્રીમાન ઉપદેશક,       દિદા= આંખો      ફર્શ=ફરશ, ભોંય                                                 દિદા ઓ દિલ ફર્શે રાહ=મારી આંખો અને દિલ ને શ્રીમાન ઉપદેશક ના રસ્તા નુ ફ્રરશ બનાવી દઇશ

અર્થઃ સાથે બેઠેલા મિત્રોએ ગ઼ાલિબ ને કહયું કે શ્રીમાન ઉપદેશક પધારવાના છે. ગાલિબે જવાબ આપ્યો કે તેઓ ભલે પધારે; મારી આંખો અને દિલ તેમના રસ્તા નુ ફરશ છે. હું તેમનુ પુરજોશ સ્વાગત કરીશ. પરંતુ ખુદાના માટે કોઇ મને એટલુ તો સમજાવો કે તેઓ શું સમજાવશે. અર્થાત મારા પ્રેમ ની લગન એટલી તેજ છે કે તેને ઉપદેશ અને નસિયત મંદ નહી કરી શકે. ખરેખર પ્રેમ ના મામલા માં હું લાચાર ને નિરુપાય છું. તેમનો ઉપદેશ નિષ્ફળ રહેશે.

ગાલિબ નિષ્ણાંત ના અભિપ્રાયઃ બેખ઼ુદ નો અભિપ્રાયઃ  ગ઼ાલિબે ટીંગળ કરવા માટે પહેલી પંક્તિમાં ઉપદેશક મહાશય ને ભાવભીનો આવકાર આપ્યો છે. જ્યારે બીજી પંક્તિમાં ઉપદેશક ની અકલ પર નફરત ને ધિક્કાર દાખવે છે.

 ये ग़ालिब  की  20वीं  ग़ज़ल  के शेअर  नंबर  1,  2, और 3 हैं।  खूबसूरत अशआर हैं;                                        शेअर नंबर 1:

दोस्त ग़मख़्वारी में मेरी, सई फर्मावेंगे क्या?                                   ज़ख़्मके भरने तलक, नाख़ुन न बढ़ जावेंगे क्या?                                                                           ग़म ख़्वारी=इलाज,  मुआलजा   सई=कोशिश , efforts  

तशरीह: ग़ालिब इश्क़ के ज़ख़्मों से चूर है। ग़ालिब के दोस्त ग़ालिब के ज़ख़्मों पर मरहमपटॅी करने आए हैं। वो देखते हैं कि ग़ालिब अपने ज़ख़्मों को कुरेद कर गहेरा कर देता है और ज़ख़्म नहीं भरते, ताज़ा रहते हैं। इस लिए दोस्तों ने ग़ालिब के नाख़ून कतर डाले ताकि वो ज़खमों को कुरेद ना सके। ग़ालिब अपने दोस्तों को कहेता हे, मेरे दोस्तो! तुम्हारी ये तजवीज़ और कोशिश कामयाब ना होगी। क्योंकि जब तलक मेरे ज़ख़्म भरेंगे मेरे नाख़ून भी बढ़ जाएंगे। में फिरसे ज़ख़्मों को कुरेद कर गहेरा और ताज़ा कर दूँगा।  

शेअर की खूबियां: ग़ालिब ने अपनी ईझ़ा दोस्ती का सबूत दिया ही। आशिक़ हमेशा ये चाहता है के इसके इश्क़के ज़ख़्म कभी ना भरे और हमेशा ताज़ा रहे।   

शेअर नंबर 2:

बे नियाज़ी हद से गुज़री,  बंदा परवर! कब तलक                                  हम कहेंगे हाले दिल,  और आप फर्मावींगे "क्या?”                                                                         बे नियाज़ी=बेतवज्जोही, बेपरवाही।     हद से गुज़री=हदसे ज़्यादा हो गई    "क्या?”=क्या कहा? 

 तशरीह: ग़ालिब माशूक़को अपना हाले दिल सुना रहा है लेकिन ग़ालिब की तरफ़ माशूक़ की तवज्जो नहीं हे। हर बात पर माशूक़ कहेता है “फिर से कहो,  तुमने अभी क्या कहा?”   ग़ालिब इस बेतवज्जो से तंग आकर माशूक़ से कहेता है “बंदा परवर! आपकी बेनियाज़ी बहुत ज़्यादा हो गई। आख़िर ये सिलसिला कब तक जारी रहेगा कि हम तो हाले दिल सुनाऐ जाएंगे और आप बार बार कहेते जाएंगे कि क्या कहा?  फिर से कहो।“

शेअर नंबर 3:

हज़रते  नासेह  गर आवें,   दीदा-ओ-दिल फर्शे  राह                                  कोई मुझको ये तो समझा दो,  कि समझावींगे क्या?                                                                  हझरत=महाशय, श्रीमान       नासेह=उपदेशक      हझरते नासेह=श्रीमान उपदेशक      दिदा=आंखें      फर्श=फरश, ज़मीन, बिछोना                                       दीदा-ओ-दिल फर्शे राह=बसर-ओ-चश्म,  शौक से मेरी सरआंखों पर तशरीफ़ लाऐँ     

तशरीह: ग़ालिब को दोस्तों ने कहा हज़रते नासेह तशरीफ़ लाने वाले हैं। ग़ालिब जवाब देता है कि उनका आना मेरी सर आंखों पर। में उनके रास्ते में अपनी आंख और दिल बिछा दूँगा। में उनका पुर तपाक खेरमुक़द्दम करूँगा। लेकिन ख़ुदा के लिए कोई मुझे ये समझा दे वो आकर मुझे क्या समझाएंगे। मतलब ये कि मेरे इश्क़का जज़्बा पंद और नसीहत से पस्त नहीं हो सकता। गोया मुहब्बतके मुआमलेमें में बेइख़त्यार हो चुका हूं। इस लिए इनकी नसीहतें नाकाम रहेगी।

माहिराने ग़ालिब की राई: अज़ राहे शोख़ी पहले मिसरे में हज़रते नासेह का पुर तपाक ख़ेरमक़द्दम है और दूसरे में इनकी फहमाईश को इस हिकारत से बयान क्या जाता है कि वो मुझे क्या समझा सकते हैं। यानी इनकी हस्ती ही क्या हे?
